The breakaway faction of the AIADMK has taken the Jayalalithaa death controversy to the Parliament now. Dr V Maitreyan, Rajya Sabha MP and one of the prominent leaders of O Panneerselvam-led rebel AIADMK camp has given a notice to the chairman of Rajya Sabha to discuss the issue in the Upper House of the Parliament on March 9.

The Parliament is being convened to debate the demand for grants for various departments. Maitreyan has also implored the Speaker to suspend budget debate in order to discuss Jayalalithaa’s death controversy.
“I have given a notice to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha to suspend the business of the house for the day on March 9 under Rule 267 of the House to discuss the issue of suspicion lingering in the mind of the people of Tamil Nadu regarding the death,” Maitreyan told DTNext over phone, adding that the notice also insists on a central agency probing the issue.
The notice has been issued a day after Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy’s government released a detailed report on treatment offered to Jayalalithaa and the circumstances leading to her death. State Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar had also issued statements clarifying the issue a few days ago.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition MK Stalin on Tuesday reiterated that a judicial probe ought to be ordered to clear the air on the issue, more so in the wake of the two rebelling factions of AIADMK making sensational claims and rebuttals about the death of their leader. PMK founder Dr Ramadoss has also demanded a CBI probe in to the issue.
