Dhanush case gets postponed to March 9

Melur couple, Karthiresan and Meenakshi, had filed a petition in Melur Judicial Magistrate Court claiming that Dhanush was their son and as he had run away from their home, they wanted a monthly maintenance allowance from him. 

Dhanush had filed a counter affidavit in High Court claiming that he was not their son and also prayed the Court to stay all the proceedings against him and quash the case. As most of the documents submitted by Dhanush were contradictory in nature, the Judge had ordered physical examination of Dhanush for distinctive marks on his body, which was completed. 

On Wednesday the couple had prayed for a genetic test on Dhanush to prove their claims. On Thursday when the case was taken up for hearing, counsel of Dhanush argued that the demand for a genetic test is intended to prolong the case. 

He also argued that the hearing in Melur court is scheduled on Friday and hence prayed to stay the proceedings till a clear picture emerges in the case. Accordingly, the proceedings at Melur Court were stayed by the Judge and the case was adjourned to March 9.
