Jayaraman visited Ramanthaswamy Temple here and later spoke to the media. When asked about the violence in the recent session in the Assembly, the Deputy Speaker said Stalin and DMK do not wish for a stable government. “They are trying to topple the AIADMK government through violence. But our government is strong and it will comfortably rule the state for the remaining four years without any trouble,” he added.

When pointed at the problems plaguing the AIADMK, Jayaraman said “They are minor troubles and tensions within the party, these problems will soon vanish and all those who left the party will return back to the party fold soon.” He invited those who left the party to comeback.

Speaking on the tension faced by some MLAs in their constituencies, the Deputy Speaker denied such reports.

He replied that there were no such opposition to the MLAs by the people.

All the protests in the name of the people were staged by the DMK, he said and added “I was there in my constituency for nearly a week, there were no such protests against me.”

Calling Stalin, a ‘greedy person,’ state Minister Manikandan, speaking at an another function in Ramnad, said “the Leader of the Opposition wants to rule the state by overthrowing the AIADMK government. So his party and cadre were indulging in violence.”

    14 arrested for abusing Karunas

Police on Sunday arrested 14 persons for abusing Tiruvadanai MLA Karunas. They were later released on bail. When the actor-turned politician visited his constituency on Friday, he tried to garland the statue of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. Supporters of former chief minister O Panneerselvam protested against him and prevented him from garlanding the statue.

On Saturday, he once again tried to pay his respects to Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. This time OPS men threw slippers on his car and started abusing him verbally. They scolded him and told his to stay away from the Assembly segment.

Angered by the insult meted out to him, Karunas left the spot and lodged a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, police booked cases against 18 persons and on Sunday morning 14 of them were arrested. They were immediately released on their own bail.

The actor-politician has been continuously facing the wrath of the people in his constituency and also in social media after he supported AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala’s group.
