According to RMC website, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Coastal Karnataka and adjoining South East Arabian sea and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level. Saturday’s trough in low level easterlies that extended from Maldives area to interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
“Southern and delta regions including Tiruchy, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam will receive rainfall. There is a possibility for Northern parts also to receive mild rainfall,” said a weatherman. “In Chennai, sky will remain overcast during the day and a few pockets in Kanchipuram and Cuddalore may receive rain,”an official added.
Meanwhile, Srikanth, a weather blogger, in his blog has said, relief is on the way, thanks to the developing synoptic activity in the Bay. With a weak disturbance expected over South Bay Peninsular India, there might be an increase in cloud cover. This is likely to keep day time maximum temperature under check.
“A trough of pressure has formed over Andaman sea and might bring rain in Southern districts. However, the effect will only last for a week,” he said.
