Kin allege wrong treatment during delivery of deceased Kovilpatti woman

The deceased woman identified as Krishnaveni (28), wife of Vigneshwaran, from Kumaragiri village near Kovilpatti, was admitted to a private hospital in Kovilpatti for her second delivery. On Tuesday night, she had experienced labour pain and doctors decided to perform a caesarean on Wednesday morning. 

As planned the Krishnaveni delivered a baby girl through a C-section. All of a sudden, she experienced breathing problem and doctors informed her kin that she needs to be shifted to a private hospital at Tirunelveli. The relatives agreed for the shift. 

When she was about to be taken to the ambulance she was declared dead. Immediately the kin started reacting and began screaming. They alleged that the doctors had given her wrong treatment and caused her death. “They do not want take responsibility for their mistake. They tried to shift her to cover up their mistake,” they alleged. They staged a dharna inside the hospital. This created tension and hospital authorities had to resort to police help.

Police held talks with the kin, who demanded immediate action on the doctors. Once they were assured that the doctors would be taken to task, the kin left the spot. The body of Krishnaveni was sent to Kovilpatti GH for a post mortem.
