Kalai Kaviri College director killed in car accident
The Director and Secretary of Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts died on the spot while a faculty member sustained serious injury after the car in which they were travelling bumped on a lorry near Perambalur on Tuesday

Perambalur police said Fr G Sagaya Raja (55), the college director, along with Meera (50), was proceeding to Chennai in a car on Tuesday morning. Ramesh (40), a native of K Mathur near Srirangam was at the wheel. While the car was nearing the toll plaza at Thirumanthoorai near Perambalur on Tiruchy-Chennai bypass, the driver reportedly lost control due to high speed and the vehicle bumped on a cargo lorry. In the impact, the front portion of the car got completely mangled. Fr Sagaya Raja who was sitting on the front passenger seat was killed on the spot. On information, Mangalamedu police reached the spot and rescued Ramesh and Meera, who suffered serious injuries to their head. Both of them were rushed to a private hospital in Tiruchy. Their condition was said to be critical.
Meanwhile, the body of Sagaya Raja sent to Perambalur GH for post mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating.Â
Fr Sagaya Raja had been heading the college for a long time and he had been instrumental in training a number of students into musicians.
