Madurai
Chandran, attached to a Tamil TV channel at Madurai, had earlier lodged a complaint with the police against some ganja peddlers in his locality. Angered by this, the ganja peddlers had attacked his son then.Â
Even after his complaint there was no change in the situation in the locality and the residents themselves lodged a complaint. But, those involved in the illegal trade thought that Chandran had only given a fresh complaint and a duo had stabbed him on Sunday.Â
The incident caused resentment among journalists and political parties. Journalist unions and political parties across the state had condemned the incident and demanded quick action in the case.Â
On Tuesday, journalists working at Madurai staged a protest in front of the Collectorate condemning the incident. They tied black ribbons, raised slogans and demanded immediate action. Journalists also raised slogans against the Madurai City Police Commissioner for not taking action immediately.Â
They demanded the CoP to detain the accused under Goondas Act.
