One more MLA in kitty, count in O Panneerselvam side now 8
Late on Monday, one more AIADMK legislator, Madurai South MLA Saravanan, switched over to caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s camp and reached his residence in Greenways Road along with Madurai MP R Gopalakrishnan. Both of them pledged their support for OPS increasing the number of MLAs in his camp to 8 and the number of MPs to 12.

As the numbers game gets dangerously close for AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala who still claimed to have enough legislators in her kitty to form a government, Saravanan who claimed to have escaped from the resort in Koovathur in disguise said, “I came out in Tee-shirt and bermudas. I am a civil engineer and I planned my escape.” He also claimed that if he could come, the rest will also follow suit soon.
OPS meets officials at Secretariat
Caretaker Chief Minister O Paneerselvam held discussions with chief secretary Girija Vaidhyanathan, home secretary Apoorva Verma and finance secretary K Shanmugam and other officials on the law and order situation in the state arising out of the factional crisis engulfing the ruling AIADMK, on Monday.
Panneerselvam’s visit to the state administrative headquarters comes nearly a week after his last visit on February 5. Also discussed were the deepening water crisis in Chennai and the drought conditions prevailing in the state. With the government lacking direction due to it being without an official head, secretariat officials said they were happy with the Chief Minister’s visit.
He left his house for the Secretariat by around 12.30 pm being seen off by his admirers and supporters after they performed a puja outside his house. On seeing state school education minister K Pandiarajan and Kuvandampalayam MLA Aarukutty while leaving the premises, he stopped his vehicle and asked them to accompany him.
