    O Panneerselvam visits Secretariat, hold discussions with senior officials

    For the first time, six days after he dropped a bombshell and stunned the political circles by stating that he was forced to resign, caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam came to the State Secretariat and held discussions with the officials on various issues concerning the State.

    Amid the fluid political situation Tamil Nadu was facing, following the power struggle between him and the AIADMK leadership, Mr Panneerselvam, who had so far received support from 11 AIADMK Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, besides School Education Minister Ma Foi Pandiarajan, veteran leaders like E Madhusudhanan, C Ponnaiyan, former Ministers and AIADMK heavyweights like K P Munusamy and Natham R Viswanathan, and past and present MLAs, drove down to the Secretariat at around 1300 hrs.

    Heavy police pickets were posted at the Secretariat complex in view of his visit. Last night, Mr Panneerselvam, while reiterating that the State administration has not come to a standstill following the political standoff, said he has been in regular touch with the officials and that he would visit the Secretariat today. 

    A couple of hours before his visit, State Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan held discussions with DMK T K Rajendran and Chennai City Police Commissioner S George. 

    Mr Panneerselvam held discussions with senior officials, including Ms Girija Vaidyanathan on the issues facing the State.
