Congress not to side with any camp, says EVKS Elangovan

Speaking to reporters at Erode on Monday, Elangovan called the fight between the two leaders of the AIADMK as an intra-party issue. “Congress’ stand on the issue is the same like its strong ally DMK,” he said and added that senior Congress leaders like P Chidambaram, Manishankar Iyer, Kumari Anandan and Krishnassamy too were on the same page on the issue. 

Elangovan said that they had discussed the ongoing controversy in detail with the vice president of the All India Congress Committee, Rahul Gandhi, and party’s in-charge of Tamil Nadu affairs Mukul Wasnik.

According to him the statements of TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar over the political scenario in the state were his personal views and not that of the party

However, he appreciated O Panneerselvam for the way he handled the jallikattu issue, cyclone Vardha and his efforts in getting Krishna water from Andhra Pradesh to Chennai. 

“The BJP will not be able to establish itself in the state, however hard they may try,” Elangovan concluded.
