Expecting a massive turnout of around 4 lakh for the grand event, police are leaving no stones unturned to ensure the smooth conduct of the consecration. The kumbabhishekam of Vazhakarutheeswarar Temple will also be held along with that of Kamakshi Amman Temple.

North Zone IG Senthamarai Kannan on Wednesday inspected the security arrangements made on the temple premises. He checked the paths through which the procession of holy water would be carried out, VIP gates and places of gatherings.

“Since lakhs of devotees will come here for the consecration, nearly 2,000 personnel will be involved in security duty. In addition, two more teams of special task personnel will be drafted from neighbouring districts,” Senthamarai Kannan said.

“The security team will be supervised and guided by 2 SPs and 3 DIGs. Around a hundred CCTV cameras have been installed around the temple and surrounding areas for effective monitoring,” he added. Moreover, divers with rubber boats would also be deployed near the ponds of the Kamakshi Amman temple to handle any emergency. The IG announced the following help line numbers for the public to seek assistance if any, 044-27237107, 27237207.

    Entry and exit gates

Devotees will be allowed into the Kamakshi Amman Temple only through the southern gate from 7.30 am. After the kumbabhishekam, while exiting they have to go through the northern gate. Those wanting to have a darshan for a second time should come via the southern gate again. The darshan at the main sanctum sanctorum of Kamakshi Amman will open only after 12.30 pm on Thursday.
