AIADMK cadre across Tamil Nadu celebrate Sasi’s elevation

In Madurai, party functionaries and cadre burst crackers and distributed sweets at the party office at Goripalayam. As MLAs and district secretaries were away, secondary-slevel leaders headed the celebrations.  Speaking to DTNext, Durai Pandiyan, party assembly leader, Madurai, claimed that Sasikala had been the close aide of former CM J Jayalalithaa, and during her period with her had imbibed the qualities of Jayalalithaa. 

Hence she was the most fit leader to become the Chief Ministers. Raja, party district treasurer, Madurai, said that Sasikala was the general secretary of the party and traditionally the general secretary of the party was made the CM to avoid any dispute in the party and the government. Hence it is apt for Sasikala to become CM claimed Raja.  

Thangam, AIADMK Madurai district deputy secretary, said that majority of people wanted Sasikala to become CM and when it was conveyed she had accepted the post. There is no problem in the party and O Panneerselvam volunteerily resigned from his post to pave way for Sasikala, he said. However, voices of dissent were heared from Coimbatore as party fucntionaries claimed that people voted for Jayalalithaa and not AIADMK.
