The hugely popular actor, aware of this, almost always refrains from making any statement related to politics in public appearance. But on Saturday last, Rajinikanth who was a special guest speaker at the anniversary celebrations of Tughlaq magazine founded by his late friend Cho Ramaswamy, had said that the political scenario in the state had become ‘unusual’ following the demise of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

“An unusual situation prevails in Tamil Nadu following the death of Jayalalithaa. In such circumstances, Cho should have been with us,” he said going on to highlight how the deceased editor of Tughlaq had been his trusted advisor and had even suggested that Rajini buy Chennai Super Kings team when IPL was launched.

Rajinikanth’s comment on the political situation in the state has once again raised hopes among his fans that their ‘Superstar’ might finally take the plunge. Soon after the demise of Jayalalithaa, Rajinikanth’s brother Sathyanarayana Rao said in an interview on online media publication Quint that the time was ripe for Rajini’s entry into politics.

“I think this is 100 per cent the right time (for Rajinikanth to enter politics). But he will wait and watch for some time. He will finish his film next year. He will also see what happens in Tamil Nadu politics now,” Sathyanarayana Rao told Quint from Bengaluru raising hopes among the lakhs of his fans that their Thalaivar might finally give in.

“We are all waiting for our Superstar to announce his entry into politics. Like he has mentioned, there is a political crisis in the state and this is the best time for him to form a new party. We will make sure that he becomes the next CM,” said an office-bearer of the All India Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Organisation on condition of anonymity.
