Tirunelveli Collector inspects Kadayanallur after dengue outbreak
Following the recent outbreak of dengue, Collector M Karunakaran carried out door to door inspection at Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli district.

Karunakaran claimed that the outbreak is under control and steps have been taken to reduce mosquito menace. He also requested the residents to follow safety measures to prevent dengue. Kadayanallur is one of the dengue prone areas in Tirunelveli district. In 2009, around 50 people had died of dengue while in 2016, over 300 people from the area were suspected to have been affected from dengue. Recently a 21-year-old woman had died of dengue in a private hospital at Tiruvananthapuram.Â
Collector carried out a surprise inspection at Kadayanallur. He visited every street and even climbed on top of the houses to see the condition of overhead water tanks. He also interacted with the residents and advised them to prevent water stagnation. He also enquired about the Health Department’s efforts and the fumigation process undertaken in the area. Then he visited the government hospital at Kadayanallur and inspected the facilities and interacted with patients regarding the treatment provided to them.
