Sasikala will decide on RK Nagar seat after talks with leaders: Minister

SP Velumani was speaking to reporters on Thursday after taking part in the events organised by the party to remember former chief minister J Jayalalithaa who died exactly a month ago. At the event, photocopies of Sasikala’s speech on assuming office as general secretary was distributed. 

When asked if the union government is trying to threaten the state government through the recent Income Tax department raids targeting AIADMK functionaries, the Minister said that the party came to power independently with majority and that there is no need for them to fear pressure in any form. Velumani had no answer when a scribe asked him if they would be pressing for creating a post of Deputy Chief Minister to give a strong role for a representative from western part of the state. 

Coming to the Minister’s rescue Pollachi MLA and Deputy Speaker in the Assembly Pollachi Jayaraman asked why scribes were irritating them by asking such controversial questions. The functionaries then immediately left the place. Nearly 2,000 cadre took part in a procession from the Aathupalam to Sundarapuram on the Pollachi Road.
