Woman abused in 3 incidents; three arrested

Sources said, R Chandra (27) working as a sanitary inspector attached to Pudukkottai municipality was on duty on Tuesday morning at North 5th street in the Pudukkottai town. As she found a huge pile of garbage in front of a house in the street, she asked the owner of the house to remove it. Following which, an altercation erupted between them. 

During the quarrel, the house owner M Selvam (60) and his wife Muthulakshmi attacked her and threatened her with dire consequences if she takes up the issue. Subsequently, she lodged a complaint with the Pudukkottai town police. On information, a team of police personnel from Pudukkottai town made investigations and verified her petition. 

As they found the facts to be true, subsequently, a case was registered by the Pudukkottai town police against the accused under various IPC sections 341, 294(b), 323, 353, 506(i) and woman Harassment Act. They arrested the accused on Tuesday evening. 

Similarly, J Sudha (30), a resident of North Colony, Mettuppatti in the town had a previous enmity with Solaimuthu (44) of same area. All of a sudden, an altercation erupted between them on last Sunday evening over previous enmity. 

Following which, Solaimuthu attacked Sudha with wooden logs. Sudha who was badly injured raised an alarm. On hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to her rescue. She was admitted at Pudukkottai GH. Solaimuthu was arrested on Tuesday evening.
