Man gets lifer for mudering pregnant wife

The police said that M Naveen Prasad (32) a taxi driver from Avarampalayam in Coimbatore married Sindhupriya in March 2014. As Prasad was an alcoholic and used to abuse his wife, she left him to join her parents. On December 9, that year, the girl returned after reconciliation talks by elders at home. In the early hours on December 10, Prasad picked up a quarrel with her and beat her to death using a hammer. He was lodged in jail and the case was tried at the Special Court for Bomb Blast Cases. Judge M Christopher sentenced him for life and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000.
