VCK chief takes the lead in greeting new General Secretary

Asked about the purpose of the meeting, Thirumavalavan told DTNext “his first point to meet Sasikala is that a woman after Jayalalithaa’s demise has been elected as a general secretary in the AIADMK. The second point is that the AIADMK should not pave the way for other communal parties to intrude into the AIADMK and topple the party’s unity.” 

“Sasikala has said that she will strive hard for a secular and non-communal government like late CM Jayalalithaa and this led me to meet her,” he said and he wished the AIADMK should complete its term. 

He said “After MGR’s demise, many questions were raised about the next leader. Various persons including political experts and media predicted Jayalalithaa, as the successor. However, many party cadres and people were reluctant to accept her in the beginning. Likewise, Sasikala who also came forward to take the mantle of the party will be accepted by all.” 

Thirumavalavan also said, “Some caste related political parties including BJP are trying to break up AIADMK government. This should not happen any longer.” 

He also wished for a prosperous New Year.
