Contractor murdered by 6-member gang

In the first incident at Thoothukudi, Harikrishnan (33), from Thalamuthunagar in Thoothukudi, who was working as a building contractor, was on his way to Veppalodai village in Thoothukudi district to supervise the construction work at noon. 

When he was traveling in his bike on the East Coast Road (ECR) at Jakkammalpuram Post, a gang of six members in three bikes hit him from the back. He fell down in the impact. On seeing the gang with lethal weapons, Harikrishnan tried to escape and began to run. Unfortunately, they chased him down and he was hacked multiple times. 

In the incident, Harikrishnan who had sustained fatal injuries died on the spot. Following the incident, the gang fled from the spot. Some of the onlookers immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and carried out investigations. 

The Thalamuthunagar police have booked a case and are in search of the culprits. In another incident, a 19-year-old youth was murdered by his friend and his aide at Courtallam in Tirunelveli district. 

Two were arrested in connection with the incident. Lingeshwaran who was helping his father in their tea shop was asked by his friend Suresh (19) to accompany him to Tiruvalluvar Nagar at Courtallam. En-route, as they were having a conversation, they had a dispute. When it intensified, Suresh along with his friend Praveen who was hiding nearby stabbed Lingeshwaran. 

When they realised that they had murdered Lingeshwaran, they absconded from the spot. Later Suresh was arrested by Courtallam police. When questioned, Suresh confessed that he had wanted Lingeshwaran to get him a mobile phone. Because he refused to get him one, he had murdered him in a fit of anger. Following Suresh’s arrest, Praveen was also arrested.
