Police said Sathish (28), son of senior DMK functionary Narayanasamy was first hacked by the armed gang when he was having food at a roadside eatery. When he fell in the attack, they threw a big stone on his head and killed him. The gang then escaped from the spot. Narayanasamy gave a complaint at the Chengalpattu police station, alleging that Sathish had been murdered due to previous enmity with former Kulavakkam Panchayath president Sathya. Police said Sathish had been engaged in sand business and owned lorries.

Sathish and Sathya, who is also a DMK party member, had disputes regarding business. Sathya had once assaulted Sathish and as a revenge Satish had hacked Sathya’s friend Dinesh in 2011. Sathya and his gang murdered Sathish’s elder brother Kannaiyan in 2011. The gang also ransacked the house of Sathish. Police had registered a murder case against Sathya and his associates Dinesh and Amalraj. Sathish went into hiding at Tanjavur and his family shifted residence from Kulapakkam to Singaperumal Koil.

However, Sathish came to Chengalpattu on Sunday and his father Narayanasamy alleged that Sathya had information about his visit. Narayanasamy told police that Sathya had deputed hired killers to murder his son Sathish. Chengalpattu police have launched a hunt for five murderers and also for Sathya, Dinesh and Amalraj. Earlier this month, another DMK party member Kalaiarasan (52) was hacked to death on December 4.

Kalairasan was hacked to death near his residence at Vallam near Chengalpattu when he was returning home around 8 pm. It was done to avenge the murder of DMDK functionary Kannadasan, who was murdered along with his friend Sundar in 2012, allegedly in connivance with Kalaiarasan. Police, however, said that there were no political motives behind the murder of Sathish.
