PMK calls government a ‘headless body’
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on December 16 called the present government machinery as a ‘headless body.’

In a statement, Dr S Ramadoss, founder of PMK, stated there were no proper officers for important posts and the government was struggling in administration. “The government has failed to appoint secretaries for about 10 government departments. Main portfolios like Public Works Department, Higher education, TANGEDCO and commercial tax have no proper government secretaries,” he said and added that vacancies particularly in TANGEDCO and higher education were lying vacant for the last six months.
Stating that the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) was also facing the same situation, Ramadoss said that the Corporation should have a deputy commissioner. But, after AIADMK came to power in 2011, the government did not fill the post.
“This is a clear indication that the government is cheating people and extending the tenure for those who are corrupt,” Ramadoss said. The government was unnecessarily creating some power centers in the state, by failing to appoint officers for necessary departments. He said he was at a loss to understand that whether the government was functioning.
“Let the bygones be bygones, the government should at least now appoint proper officers for crucial posts that remain vacant to ensure the growth of the state,” he said.
