We want nothing other than CMB, say Delta farmers
Though there was satisfaction when 2000 cusecs of water was released to Tamil Nadu by the Apex Court, the delta farmers said that the water may not help any longer as crops have begun to wither. However, they demanded to form Cauvery Management Board (CMB) for a solution.

Speaking to the media, PR Pandian, coordinator of the federation of farmers associations, said, the order has proved that the court is supreme to the parliament. He appealed to form the CMB which is the only way to give a permanent solution and the Tamil Nadu MPs should give more pressure to the Union Government for it, he said. “As per the interim order to release 2000 cusecs water, the centre should initiate steps and instruct the Karnataka government to obey the orders” Pandian said. Meanwhile, the farmers from the tail end region said that the crops have already started to wither and the water may not help the standing crops even if the full amount of water is released. “The Centre should declare the state as drought- hit since several farmers have committed suicide due to water scarcity and the state government should insist on the same to the centre”, said Swamimalai S Vimalnathan secretary of Cauvery farmers protection association Vimalnathan.
