A press release issued by Prohibition and Exercise Department stated as a mark of respect to the late CM, the government also decided to close all the shops of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) from December 6 to 8.

It is also directed that the licensed premises of FL2 and FL11 (except FL6) licenses, would remain closed throughout the state from December 6 to 8, the release added. Meanwhile, tipplers in the city, who were willing to spend a little more time searching for booze were not disappointed as bootleggers in various pockets were selling liquor for jacked-up prices. With the dry-days set to last longer, more such outlets are expected to open.
