TN to celebrate International Day of Disabled on Dec 1 & 3
Sports and game, cultural programmes and issuing awards will form part of the two-day celebrations planned by the Tamil Nadu government for the International Day of the Disabled on December 1 and 3 respectively, a release says.

Prosthetics under various government welfare schemes would be distributed on this day, while philanthropists, social service volunteers, organisations and teachers that provided exemplary service to the cause of the disabled would be honoured with awards, it added. While social welfare minister Dr V Saroja will inaugurate the state-level sports meet for the disabled at the Anna university indoor stadium on Thursday morning, prizes will be awarded to all the winners in the same evening. On December 3 morning, cultural programmes by the differently-abled would be presented at the Vivekananda Hall in Anna university and the same evening the Social Welfare Minister would hand over awards to those who helped the cause of the disabled. Differently-abled department secretary Mohammed Nizamudeen and department state commissioner K Murugayya would participate in the functions on both days, the release ended.
