CHENNAI: Chennai Quick Guns suffered its second successive defeat as it endured a 44-50 loss at the hands of Gujarat Giants in Ultimate Kho Kho Season 1 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Friday.
All-rounder Jaggannath Das was the star of the night for Giants, which consolidated its top-2 position on the table. Gujarat skipper Ranjan Shetty opted to defend as his team not only bagged eight points but also restricted Chennai to 19 points in the first turn. Quick Guns grabbed four bonus points in the second turn, but Giants accumulated 18 points to take a 26-23 lead at the end of the first innings.
In the third turn, Jaggannath displayed splendid defensive skills and earned six bonus points. His outstanding effort meant Chennai could hold only a 10-point (42-32) lead heading into the fourth and final turn. Jaggannath impressed once again – this time in attack – for Gujarat that ultimately won by a six-point margin.
