Crivellaro extends stay at Chennaiyin

The 31-year-old playmaker had a memorable debut in India, in ISL 2019-20, netting seven goals and assisting eight. His 15 goal contributions were invaluable as Owen Coyle-managed Chennaiyin rose from the ruins to make it to the summit clash.

 “I always wanted to continue my journey at Chennaiyin after the incredible season we had last time out. It is a privilege to play for the CFC fans and hopefully, we can deliver more success to them soon enough. We must be positive, and work hard to achieve our target,” said Crivellaro in a statement issued by the club on Sunday.

 Welcoming back the attacking midfielder, Chennaiyin co-owner Vita Dani said: “Crivellaro was one of our standout performers last season and we are happy to have him again. During our memorable campaign, he gave our fans a lot to cheer about through his quality and brilliance. We hope for more of the same.”

 Crivellaro becomes the second Brazilian to pen a one-year extension with the club after centreback Eli Sabia inked a deal earlier this month.

Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), organiser of the Indian Super League (ISL), on Sunday announced that the upcoming edition would be held in Goa.

 ISL 2020-21, which is set to begin in November, will be played behind closed doors at three venues – Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Fatorda), GMC Athletic Stadium (Bambolim) and Tilak Maidan Stadium (Vasco).

 FSDL will work with the Sports Authority of Goa, Goa Football Association and the state administration to ensure a safe season in the midst of the raging coronavirus pandemic. The organiser wishes to provide an individual training pitch to each of the 10 participating clubs.
