The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Sunday added additional responsibility to Bengal senior women's coach Shib Sankar Pal by appointing him as the coach of U-23 Women's team.
"I am thankful to President Avishek Dalmiya, Honorary Secretary Snehasish Ganguly and other office bearers for keeping faith in me," Shib Shankar was quoted as saying in the statement released by CAB.
"I will give my best and prepare the girls for the trophies. My aim is to become champion with both U-23 and senior Bengal Women's team.
"I think it's great to have the opportunity to train both age groups as we will be able to look after the players from U23 and prepare them for the senior level. The idea is to build a strong bonding and play together as a family," he added about his new role.
Shib Sankar, who has been the head coach of senior team for past one year, will be assisted by Charanjit Singh and Rituparna Roy in his new dual role as the trio will be looking after both the age groups.
Rituparna, who coached Vidarbha U-23 and senior team last season, said: "I am excited to be a part of it. I always wanted to get back and work with my home team. Playing and practicing with the senior players will boost the confidence of the junior players. We will aim to become champion in both age groups."
The association also appointed Laxmi Rathode as physio and Samiran Nath as the trainer of the senior women's team.
"I think it will be more easy to work with both age groups as the thought process will be the same. The girls will more prepared and focused about their target," Charanjit said about the new role.
