Will take a month or two to get back to best: Sai Kishore
Just when R Sai Kishore took a giant leap in his career by earning a contract with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the coronavirus pandemic hit everyone, including the Tamil Nadu left-arm orthodox bowler, for a six.

While the deadly disease continues to impact the world with its prolonged innings, Sai Kishore is confident of getting back on track soon after normal services resume. “Personally, it will take a month or two to regain my best form,” Sai Kishore, highest wicket-taker of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20, told DT Next.
“Prior to the total lockdown, certain restrictions (in the city) were eased and I practised at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. I bowled for about three weeks and got my groove back. But now that there are no relaxations, I am forced to stay away from the field,” said the 23-year-old.
Despite finding himself on a sticky wicket, Sai Kishore has a fitness schedule in place, thanks to his trainer Ramji Srinivasan, founder of Sports Dynamix. “It is a bit frustrating (to be at home all the time). The majority of the world is working, but many sportspersons aren’t. However, to remain fit, I have been performing some drills on the advice of Ramji sir,” he added.
With abundance of time on his side, Sai Kishore engages in long interactions with Tamil Nadu teammates, especially fast bowler T Natarajan. “I am in constant touch with my friends via phone calls. I discuss what can be done better in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. During the conversations, I also reflect on my past performances,” said Sai Kishore.
The Chennai-based lad has also been extensively reading books, completing four in this period. During the early stages of the lockdown, he was glued to his laptop, catching replays of hundreds of matches. “I watched so many games that there were none left after a few days (laughs). I did it as I was completely free. I also tried to look at fresh ideas for the future.”
Sai Kishore stated that staying indoors for a number of months has helped him understand his parents better and the sacrifices they have made. “I have been travelling regularly for the last seven years and I have never really had the opportunity to be at home for this long. Because of the current situation, I have been able to spend quality time with my family members and connect with them better,” explained Sai Kishore.
