Chennai Super Kings hits ground running ahead of IPL
It’s that time of the year in Chennai. The Super Kings is back in town and there’s the usual buzz in the Southern Indian city. This time, it’s even more special as Chennai’s Super King, MS Dhoni is returning to playing competitive cricket after a 6-month hiatus.

The Super Kings’ training sessions in Chepauk have witnessed massive crowdsas the likes of Dhoni and Suresh Raina began their preparations for the upcoming season with gusto.
Popularly known as ‘China Thala’ and ‘Thala’ by the CSK fans, Raina and Dhoni have by far been the most loved pair among the CSK faithful.
From cheering the team bus which was on its way to Chepauk from the teamhotel to roaring for their favourite stars from the stands, the CSK supporters were at it once again.
The scene was no different on Tuesday as Chepauk hosted thousands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans who watched their favourite cricketers play a practice match ahead of the latest edition of the Indian Premier League.
Dhoni’s return has been the highlight of the early pre-season camp. The World Cup-winning former captain arrived in the city on March 2 and is working towards a smooth return to competitive cricket. A fan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium went on to breach the security to get a glimpse of Dhoni.
The full camp will begin on March 19 when all theplayers, accompanied by head coach Stephen Fleming, will join the squad.
Raina entertained the crowd with a couple of sixes and one four during the match. The video of Raina hitting all over the park went viral on social media. With the three restricted stands being reopened, CSK will finally have a full house when it plays its home matches this season.
With the team managing to keep its core intact, CSK will once again be a serious challenger for the title. As has been the case in the past few auctions, CSK didn’t spend a lot. Australian paceman Josh Hazlewood and England’s Sam Curran were brought in, along with leg spinnerPiyush Chawla.
