Priyam Garg looks to lead India to glory
Priyam Garg, the captain of the India U-19 World Cup team, first came to prominence when he made his debut for his state, Uttar Pradesh, in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy.

He grabbed the opportunity scoring a splendid double century against Tripura. From then on, the sky was the limit for the teenager. A few months later, Garg made his T20 debut for UP in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. More good news followed for the promising teenager with his participation in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy.
Priyam has already earned plaudits for his fine strokeplay and composed technique. Although he’s just 19, Priyam is already a regular for Uttar Pradesh in first-class cricket and has featured in 12 matches so far, scoring 867 runs at an average of 66.69. Priyam was a prodigy, but an injury prevented him from being selected in India’s Under-19 squad back in 2018. However, he was prolific, and he kept peeling off runs. He was eventually roped into Uttar Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy squad after his run of scores at the KSCA Invitational tournament in Bengaluru in 2018.
He also boasts of a List A strike-rate of 90.87 in 19 matches, scoring 707 runs at an average of 47.13. What is more, he even caught the eye of former India captain Rahul Dravid. Clearly starstruck by all his accolades, the Sunrisers Hyderabad wasted no time in shelling out Rs. 1.9 crore to acquire his services at the IPL auction in December 2019.
Priyam has been in fine form for the India U-19 side as well and recently scored a century against South Africa in Durban. In the recently concluded Quadrangular series, he scored 131 runs, at an average of 43.66.
