U-23 match in the balance

Tamil Nadu off-spinner S Swaminathan (6/69) dished out a six-wicket haul before Assam came right back into the Colonel CK Nayudu Under-23 Elite B four-day match in Silchar on Saturday.

After no play on the first day because of heavy showers, Assam was clean swept for 198 in 71.4 overs on day two, thanks to Swaminathan’s great spell. Responding to the host’s first innings total, Tamil Nadu was tottering at 43 for four in 16 overs.

Brief scores: Assam 198 all-out in 71.4 overs (Abhishek Thakuri 77, Jitumoni Kalita 28, S Swaminathan 6/69, S Mohan Prasath 2/15) vs Tamil Nadu 43 for 4 in 16 overs (Mrinmoy Dutta 2/17).
Tamil Nadu on top against Tripura
P Vidyuth (4/43) scalped four wickets as Tamil Nadu bowled out Tripura for 171 in the Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 Elite C four-day clash in Agartala on Saturday.
