In addition to his goalkeeping duties, the 33-year-old will also double up as the goalkeeping coach for the upcoming season. Having joined CFC in 2015, the double Indian Super League title-winner steps into his fifth season with the club. “I am happy to continue with the Chennaiyin family, which has been home away from home for me over the years,” said Karanjit.

“I am glad that the club has entrusted me with a dual responsibility and I look forward to delivering on both fronts,” added the custodian. On the same day, CFC added another goalkeeper to its roster in the form of Vishal Kaith. The 23-year-old shotstopper penned a long-term deal, joining the side from Hyderabad FC for an undisclosed fee.

Kaith spent his previous three seasons at the now defunct FC Pune City. “A new chapter awaits in my career, with a champion team like Chennaiyin. It was a very easy decision for me and I hope to help the club win more trophies in the coming years,” stated a determined Kaith, who is currently in Goa with the Indian national team ahead of the FIFA WC Qualifiers.

Chennaiyin FC confirmed the departure of midfielder Francisco Fernandes from the club on Saturday. Having lifted the trophy in the 2017-18 season, the Goan bid adieu as an ISL champion. Francisco made a total of 37 appearances over the past two years.
