Telugu Titans and UP Yoddha played out an exciting 20-20 tie in the VIVO Pro Kabaddi 2019 at the NSCI Indoor Stadium here on Friday.
Mumbai
Just when Titans thought it had registered its first success in the competition, the match officials awarded a technical point to UP after the last raid. That was because a couple of TT players and a member of the support staff stepped into the ‘Field of Play’ before the final whistle was blown.
Titans now has five points in its kitty from as many matches, while UP has eight points from four fixtures. Siddharth Sirish Desai (5 points), Farhad Rahimi Milaghardan (4 points) and captain Abozar Mohajermighani (4 points) did well for Telugu. Amit, Shrikant Jadhav and skipper Nitesh Kumar collected four points each for UP.
Titans had a three-point (5-2) cushion early on, but UP pegged back at seven all. Then, there were two milestone alerts as Shrikant (UP) and Siddharth (TT) crossed 200 raid points and 250 points respectively in PKL history. Nothing separated the teams at half-time as both were locked at 11 points each.
The competing sides were a bit cagey at the start of the final period, trading a few tackle points. With less than five minute to go, Telugu had a slender three-point advantage at 18-15. But UP Yoddha once again clawed its way back into the contest to level the scores at 19 each. After all the drama in the final raid of the encounter, both teams took home three points.
U Mumba stuns Gujarat

Defender Surinder Singh (9 points) and Abhishek Singh (6 points) were the leading scorers for the home side. None of the Gujarat players got more than four points and that led to its downfall.
