Their battle at the NPR College Ground here on Thursday will put one of the sides in a better position to qualify for the play-offs. Both teams have pocketed only two points thus far, with inaugural title-winner Tuti a shade ahead in the eight-team standings. Patriots occupies the sixth spot on account of a better net run rate (-2.349) and is followed by Kaalai (-2.421) at the seventh place on the table.
After pipping Ruby Trichy Warriors in its opener, iDKK has gone off the boil. It has suffered three successive defeats in the competition, but will be boosted by the presence of India international Dinesh Karthik. The wicketkeeper-batsman made his TNPL 4 debut against Dindigul Dragons and he will hope to inject some positive energy.
Tuti’s only victory came against Lyca Kovai Kings in a rain-shortened 13-overs-a-side game. Since then, it has crashed to two huge losses – by 40 runs against Dindigul and by 58 runs versus VB Kanchi Veerans on Tuesday. The Subramania Siva-led side will have to dig deep and find a way to be in the reckoning for a top four spot.
Head-to-Head record: iDKK 1; TP 2
Record in 2019: iDKK WLLL; TP LWLL
