Apart from the left corner specialist, the side has two other pillars in Manjeet Chhillar and Mohit Chhillar. While Manjeet leads the overall ‘Tackle Points’ chart in PKL history, Ran and Mohit also feature in the top 10 defenders of all-time. “There are senior players in the squad and my aim will be to put the best foot forward. We have got a wonderful combination of raiders and defenders, so hoping to spin some magic,” said Ran in an e-mail interaction with DT Next.

Despite putting in roaring performances in the last six seasons, all-rounder Manjeet is yet to taste success in the league. And, he believes apart from hard work, a side needs a slice of fortune to go all the way. “All the teams come into the competition with a motivation to win. We will give our best and the rest depends on luck,” stated the India international.

Manjeet will operate in tandem with Mohit for Thalaivas in the upcoming edition, a combination which the opposition raiders would fear to take on. While being effusive in his praise for Mohit, Manjeet also rated newcomer Ajeet highly. “Mohit is from my place and I have been following him from close quarters for a long time. He is someone who has proved himself time and again in PKL. We also have Ajeet, who is a great right cover defender,” he revealed.

Mohit, on his part, insisted the triumvirate is well-prepared for the season ahead. “With the presence of Manjeet and Ran, we have a great unit and a very balanced side. The squad is geared up for PKL 7,” Mohit told this newspaper. The right corner defender was a vital cog in the title-winning U Mumba team in Season 2, which was coached by Edachery Bhaskaran, the current Thalaivas chief.

Mohit is delighted to play under him once again. “He is a great coach who works extensively on all intricate skills. Post the auction, I was pretty happy to know I was part of his side. I called him up personally and conveyed my regards. I am looking forward to featuring under him.”
