Home fans expect CFC to go the distance again in Indian Super League

Come October 6, defending champion Chennaiyin FC will be welcomed by a sea of blue as it steps out of the tunnel for its first home game against FC Goa in the Indian Super League 2018-19.

It was against the same opponent CFC played its first home fixture last year, losing 2-3. From there on, the ‘Marina Machans’ gave the fans a lot to cherish. There was no stopping John Gregory’s boys and after a clinical win against Bengaluru FC in the final, they eventually clinched their second title in three editions.
When compared to many other teams, Chennaiyin fans have seen more highs than lows and they expect the franchise to go the distance again. “While many other teams decided to revamp their squads, CFC has retained the core group from 2017-18 (edition). Last season, the team stormed into the final by thrashing others. I am expecting an all-out attack from Gregory and his men. I am sure we are going to bring the trophy back,” said Nithin Kamalesh, a member of the ‘Supermachans – Chennaiyin FC Fans’.
For them, it does not matter which part of the world they belong to as their hearts still beat for the two-time champion. “ISL has got only 10 teams and everyone’s objective is to win the title. When you win the league back to back, one is not only dominating but is also making a statement to its rivals. Hope CFC goes for the kill this season and becomes the most successful franchise in ISL history,” remarked Hariharan from Malaysia.
