The Tuti Patriots were off to a flier thanks to the opening batsmen S Dinesh and Kaushik Gandhi who made 45 runs stand in 4.1 overs. The Patriots started to lose wickets with all batsmen getting starts but not able to carry on.

Subramanian Anand came in after skipper Kaushik Gandhi got out. He scored 32 runs off 29 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes to his name.

Rajagopal Sathish came in for the Patriots and played a brilliant innings helped them to cross the line but not qualify for the playoffs. He smashed 57* of just 34 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes to his tally.

Kaalai's bowler S Swaminathan bowled an excellent spell and picked up 3 wickets for just 22 runs. Yo Mahesh and Rajkumar bowled well in the death to contain the Patriots and helped them qualify to the playoffs.

Earlier in the match, Karaikudi Kaalai batsman Rajhamany Srinivasan scored a crucial knock of 46 from 29 balls against the Tuti Patriots to guide his team above the 160 mark in today's match at Tirunelveli.

Karaikudi Kaalais have managed a very promising total on the board in a track where the ball isn't coming onto the bat well. The openers started off well, milking quick runs in the powerplay, but the real hero of this innings was Srinivasan.

With three fours and two sixes in his knock of 46, he anchored the chase and ensured that despite the middle-over wobble, his side finish well.

The Patriots have to chase this down for a spot in the play-offs, but they have to chase this down quickly to kick up their Net Run Rate.

Brief Scores: Tuti Patriots 165/6 (Rajagopal Sathish 57*, Subramanian Anand 32; S Swaminathan 3/22) beat Karaikudi Kaalai 164/6 (Rajhamany Srinivasan 46, V Aditya 37; Athisayaraj Davidson 2/35) by 4 wickets.
