Aushik gave away only 12 runs from his quota of four overs and scalped three wickets, playing a key role in defending the total. Kanchi Veerans had lost its first four matches in the competition. The spinner was pleased as his team tasted victory for the first time this season. “The feeling of winning is obviously very beautiful. I always tell my team that one must experience the feeling to know what it is. I am very glad the youngsters got to do it today (Sunday) and I am very happy for them,” he said during the postmatch press conference.

Asked if the Veerans was confident of pulling it off despite putting a low total on the board, the former Tuti Patriots man added, “Actually, the team talk at the half-way mark was to take the match till the end and not give up easily. My role was to pick wickets in the powerplay overs.” Batting has always been a concern for the VB Chandrasekar-owned franchise in the third edition. Commenting on it, he remarked, “Our batting needs to be addressed but then, we have been backing our youngsters to fire. We have Deeban (Lingesh) who is just 18-years-old and he is playing at No 3. I don’t see many teams doing that and it is a good learning curve for players like him. If they can learn something from it and contribute to the team’s success, it will be very good for us.”
