After successive losses, Trichy seeks revival against Madurai
Trichy Warriors, which succumbed to two consecutive losses after two wins, will be hoping to revive its 2018 Sankar Cement-Tamil Nadu Premier League campaign with a win against Madurai Panthers at the ICL Sankar Nagar ground in Tirunelveli on Sunday.
Chennai
Madurai Panthers, meanwhile, will look to seal a spot in the ‘Play-offs’ which has eluded it for the past two years. Currently, it has three wins from four matches and a win here will boost its chances. Trichy Warriors will require to win at least two games from here on to stake a claim in the top-four.Â
The Warriors almost pulled off a miraculous win against Karaikudi Kaalai on Friday, only to be denied by Yo Mahesh’s resistance. The cliff-hanger was decided on the penultimate ball of the match, and the result went against the Warriors. The Trichy Warriors top-order batting line-up has disappointed in the last three games and Suresh Kumar S has been the only batsman who has impressed so far. The batsmen will have to raise their game if the Warriors is to entertain the hopes of progressing in the tournament.Â
Madurai Panthers has a lot of factors working in its favour. Its top-order batting and its bowling performances have been excellent so far. Thalaivan Sargunam’s return to the explosive batting form will calm a few nerves in the team. The lack of runs from the middle order is a worry for Madurai Panthers leading into the encounter, however, it shall still be favourite to pick up a win.
