Karaikudi Kaalai's captain Srikkanth Anirudha anchored the Kaalai's innings with his 41 runs off 28 balls while Ruby Trichy Warriors Suresh Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 12 runs. Yo Mahesh holding his cool chipped in towards the end of the match with 13 runs off 15 balls.
At one point, Karaikudi Kaalai were 47/0 in this chase of 115, looking like they'd walk home. In the end, the team barely scraped over the line in a thrilling finish. It was a stunning turnaround through the middle, inspired by Suresh Kumar, who exposed the frailities of Karaikudi's middle-order.

S Mohan Prasath scalped 3 wickets for Kaalai and proved instrumental in the bowling attack.

Trichy Warriors are the first team to get bowled out batting first in this season of TNPL. Trichy Warriors were 57/6 by the end of the 10th over. It was pretty clear at the time how the innings would end up. MS Sanjay, the lone batsman to hit a six in the innings, took Trichy Warriors past the 100 run mark with his quickfire cameo of 28 runs from 17 balls.
