Both teams had contrasting fortunes in their previous outings at the same venue. While Madurai Panthers impressed by drubbing a dominant Tuti Patriots, VB Kanchi Veerans conceded its third straight defeat as it was beaten by Dindigul Dragons.

Madurai Panthers defeated the inaugural champion by seven wickets. After restricting Tuti Patriots to only 165, it completed a clinical chase with KB Arun Karthik (59)leading the show. Madurai Panthers will be brimming with confidence when it takes on Kanchi Veerans but it cannot afford to be complacent. Its batting is very dependent on Arun Karthik and the opening batsman will be under pressure to hold the side together. Kanchi Veerans will draw on the positives from its loss against Dindigul Dragons.

After being reduced to 27/4, youngsters Mokit Hariharan and Francis Rokins stitched an unbeaten 139-run partnership to lift the side to a fighting 166/4. Bowling is an area of concern for the Veerans as is the lack of runs by the top-order. Madurai Panthers has four points from its three games while Kanchi Veerans has none.
