In form opening batsmen Abhinav Mukund and Shahrukh Khan took the fight to the opposition by scoring 51 runs in the powerplay. Shahrukh went on to score 67 runs off 40 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes, while Mukund scored 42 (not out) runs off 35 balls and stayed till the end to finish the match.Â
As a consolation prize Warriors bowler D Kumaran scalped the wickets of Shahrukh Khan and Antony Dhas towards the end of the match.
Earlier in the match, Lyca Kovai Kings bowled exceptionally well and did not allow Trichy Warriors to settle down.
The batting performance of Trichy Warriors was just ordinary despite coming into this game with two victories.Â
The Warriors' decline started after the run-out by Mukund who got Shankar.Â
S Manigandan marked his debut with two wickets on successive deliveries and with an economy rate of 4.5.
The Warriors' batting unit got starts but failed to convert them into big runs. They did get the odd boundaries here and there but that wasn't enough.Â
Brief scores: Ruby Trichy Warriors 124/9 (S Kumar 35, B Shankar 24; S Manigandan 2/18) lose to Lyca Kovai Kings 125/2 (Shahrukh Khan 67, Abhinav Mukund 42*; D Kumaran 2/13) by 8 wickets.
