For the top two seeds Marwan Tarek and Mostafa Assal, the task seemed slightly less cumbersome as compared to the progress of others.

The 5/8 seed Mostafa Montaser came from a game down to put it across his Egyptian country-mate Yehia Elnawasany while Malaysian Darren Rahul Pragasm dropped the first game before getting into the act against English lad James Wyatt. However, there were jolts in the junior women’s section.

Sneha Sivakumar, the Singaporean girl with Indian connection, once again demanded attention with her giant-killing efforts while Egyptian lower seed Farida Mohamed was in focus after toppling a higher seed.

Sneha had caused an upset on Thursday and in the pre-quarterfinal on Friday, she wore down Egyptian Ingy Hammouda with another fighting display.

Clearly a revelation in this Championship, this Singaporean has done enough to project her country’s squash status at the junior level with her spirited display thus far.

For Farida, the going was not as smooth or rather the fight was not easy considering she was up against Malaysia’s Aifa Azman. Farida is a tall girl while Alifa is of short stature.

The height difference quickly put the contest into proper perspective. Where Farida had the reach, Aifa had to make to with agility.
