Suresh Kumar put on 60 runs with Sonu Yadav that set up the successful chase. More importantly, when Ruby required 19 runs in the last over, Suresh Kumar hit two sixes to single-handedly take the match away from Dindigul.

Suresh Kumar, who spoke at the presentation ceremony, revealed he had planned to carry out the assault in the last three overs.

    Excerpts:

Thoughts on Ashwin’s over in the death...

Suresh: We had left our final assault for the last three overs. Ashwin’s over was crucial for it would decide the outcome. We realised that if we get some runs against him then that would help us close in on the target, and so we took our chances.

On the win, especially the last over...

Suresh: I had believed all the while that we could pull it off, and in fact told Sonu when he came in that it was possible if we plan our assault and execute it well.

    86 required from 43 balls...

Sonu Yada Suresh (Anna) said not to allow the target to play on my mind. He said let’s aim to get 8-9 runs each over and we can get the rest in the final three overs.
