Income Tax, Chennai City FC break even at a CFA Senior Division League match

The stalemate meant both teams took home one point each. M Saravana Kumar opened the scoring for Income Tax after the ball rebounded twice, once off the post and once of goalkeeper Vigneshwaran. Bibetha equalised for CCFC, with nothing to separate between the two sides at the end of the first half. Despite having lion’s share of the possession, CCFC couldn’t add another goal to its tally with no clear cut chances coming its way. 

Romario gave CCFC the lead in the 58th minute after he curled an in-swinging ball from the left flank, which landed inside the far post. Income Tax’s goalkeeper Revanth, who stood his ground, had no chance of stopping the ball from entering the back of the net. 

Chennai City head coach Sathish Kumar continuously showed his frustration on the touchline as he felt a few decisions had gone against his side. He later went onto have an altercation with the fourth referee regarding the actions on the field. 

CCFC custodian Vigneshwaran made a couple of good saves after the 70-minute mark to deny Income Tax the equaliser. Revanth, the goalkeeper at the other end, was also in the thick of things. He made a single-handed save first and then followed it up with a ground save diving to his right. 

After attacking for most part of the second half, Income Tax got rich dividends for its hard work. Vigneshwaran put in a beautiful ball from a set-piece situation, allowing R Sridhar to convert it into a goal with a wonderfully placed header. Both teams had its chances to score the winner in stoppage time, but they shot wide continuously from close range.
