Dwayne Bravo delighted to be back with Chennai Super Kings
Less than a day after West Indies secured its qualification for next year’s ICC World Cup in England, Dwayne Bravo, who has only had a passive involvement in the national team’s affairs of late, said his cup of joy is filled to the brim. Bravo, who was in the city to take part in a CSK event, took even greater pride in the return of CSK into the IPL fold after an absence of two years.

“Congratulations to the West Indies on qualifying. There is going to be a FIFA World Cup this year without Italy. So, no one can guarantee anything to any team. I’m happy that Windies was able to qualify with a young team. I wish them all the best and I love seeing them competing with the best. Hopefully, I would get to play in the World Cup as well,” hoped the 34-year-old allrounder.
Ever since the Trinidadian moved to CSK from Mumbai Indians in 2011, he has brought the inimitable Caribbean flair and flamboyance that was lapped up by the CSK fans.
“Coming back to CSK is like coming back home for me. We missed the IPL for the last two years. I was following the auction from Australia and I was hoping and praying that I would be picked by CSK. I’m very thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. I enjoyed a good period of rest after playing in the Big Bash just to keep myself physically and mentally prepared to give my best to CSK. I enjoy my time in Chennai,” said the former West Indies captain.
Asked what made players like him think highly of CSK, Bravo praised the team management and the support staff for creating a convivial atmosphere in the dressing room and beyond. “CSK is not just a cricket team. It’s like a family. Even after the IPL is over, players keep in touch with each other. The management also makes it a point to look after the well-being of the players. This team is a special team and the foreign players get a lot of love and appreciation from the fans. It’s led by the best captain in the world. For me personally, CSK has done a lot and I would want to entertain the Yellow Army once again,” added Bravo.
With him being one of the senior members of the team, Bravo is ready to assume the mantle of mentoring the up and coming Indian pacers of the CSK squad.
He also refuted any suggestion that his team’s fast bowling department might be a sitting duck particularly against teams with a top-heavy batting line-up. “This is the most experienced squad that we have. We have guys like Shane Watson, Jadeja and Dhoni. As Dhoni keeps saying, pressure is something we have to embrace. I’m excited to work with the local young talent, especially the fast bowlers. I’m happy to be a part of very talented and also an experienced group,” remarked the genial West Indian.
