Commenting on the possibility of expanding the league in the future after its resounding success this time around, Sudarshan, who organized the event, said, “The season has just got over. The planning for the next season will take some time. I will have to sit down with our team and the franchise owners to discuss about it.”

He admitted that he was extremely happy that the tournament received exceptional reception from the fans. “The entire family of all the players, coaches and team owners were really delighted with the way the league went about.

To be honest, I couldn’t have asked for more,” said an elated Sudarsan. The enthusiasts, who packed the compact arena, got a glimpse of the local talent, with the player pool comprising participants from 24 districts in the state.

On why the women’s doubles match in a tie was dropped and its place the junior boys doubles was preferred, he added, “We were keen on giving the Under-17 boys a platform to showcase their talent. It would prolong the tie to seven matches (if women’s doubles had been included) because with six, teams might be levelled at three each. We wanted to keep it to a maximum of five matches and hence the absence of women’s doubles.”

Speaking on the number of tight contests that were played during the course of the four days, he asserted, “We did not have a set pattern for the tie’s order of play. And, I feel that helped in making the matches more interesting. The final was just a beneficiary of the system we had in place.”
