Goals from Deepak and Alok Barla propelled ICF to the title in the second state level invitation hockey tournament. Nambi Ganesh was the sole scorer for SR.Â
ICF completely dominated the passage of play between the 25th and the 30th minute, which proved to be the turning point at the end of the contest. Deepak opened the scoring for the champion in the 26th minute off a penalty corner.Â
ICF then managed to extend its lead through a field goal from Barla in the 29th minute, enabling it to end the first half with a two-goal cushion. Trailing 0-2 at the start of the second half, Nambi Ganesh converted a penalty corner, giving SR some hope of getting back into the contest.Â
SR did create very good chances towards the final phase of the match, but some floppy finishing meant it had to finish runner-up in the 12team tournament. Despite mounting immense pressure in the second half, SR failed to put the ball into the back of the net for the second time.Â
In the thirdplace play-off match between Indian Overseas Bank and Hockey Academy, the latter prevailed 5-3 in the penalty shootout after the teams were drawn at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
