Local League: Teenager Abishiek scores maiden first division ton
Teenager S Abishiek 102 (159b, 14x4, 2x6) scored his maiden century for Vijay CC in the TNCA first division league against Grand Slam CC at the IC-Guru Nanak College ground here on Monday. Abishiek’s ton helped Vijay CC reach 297 for five at stumps.

Abishiek had an able ally in KB Arun Karthick batting on 94 (200b, 9x4, 1x6) as the duo shared 175 runs for the fifth wicket in 45.3 overs. At the close of play, R Prasanna was keeping Arun Karthick company with an unbeaten 29.
Defending champion, Jolly Rovers which has been relegated to ‘Plate’ division played its first match against Alwarpet at the refurbished Chemplast ground. Alwarpet’s Swapnil Gugale scored 103 (223b, 13x4, 1x6) to guide his team to 234 for five at the end of day one.

V Santhosh Kumar’s excellent spell of six for 32 guided WABCO Ind RC to a 20-run win over SRF RC in the TNCA Thiruvallur DCA League Championship match here. His figures included a hat-trick and also marked his third consecutive five-wicket haul of the season.
