City gets new lease of life after outplaying Churchill
The battle between the two relegation threatened teams was convincingly won by Chennai City FC as it beat Churchill Brothers 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore on Saturday.

Chennai City FC made two changes in its starting lineup from its goalless stalemate against Shillong Lajong as Beautin Antony and Jesuraj replaced Asif Kottayil and Frenchman Jean Joachim. Kabir T retained his place under the sticks in the absence of Slovenian Uros Poljanec. He was defended by a backline of Ravanan, Shumeiko, Tarif AKhnand and Sydney Vanspaul. Donghyeon Kim slotted in midfield along with Pandiyan Sinivasan while Aleksandar Rakic was ably supported by skipper Soosairaj in attack.Â
Alfred Fernandes decided to make three changes to the line-up that started in its 1-0 defeat against NEROCA. Veteran campaigners like Uttam Rai, Israil Gurung and Mechac Koffi made their way back to replace Harshad Naik, Bektur Uulu and Wayne Vaz.
Chennai City made its intentions known right from the start as Rakic blasted a shot over the cross bar from a tight angle after cutting in from the right.
Nicholas Fernandes made a darting run from the left flank and then dished out a cross on a platter for Koffi who tried to get a touch to it with his boot where he could have used his head to bury the ball into the net.
